TT FJ spring Question?

I found a 2010 TT setup off a FJ without the tops. The owner used it on his new lift. Can I use my 4runner tops on this setup or must I purchase new ones?

How much do they cost?

They guy was asking $200, what would it be worth missing these parts?

You can use the ones from your 4runner I paid 150+ shipping for a set out of a TT that were complete and still together. If you get them you be happy the Bilsteins have a great ride!

You can use your OEM mount kit for the front.
Warning: The 2010 front FJC strut's lower joint needs to be modified in order to fit your TR4.
The rear mounting hole (on the chasis) also need to be enlarged to fit the larger bushing washer. It can be done with some power tools.

I paid $200 for a 2010 almost brand new set of Tokicos with springs.

Is there a thread on here that shows what needs to be done. My buddy has a import racing shop and we built my supra. I just don't want to run into anything. It's my wifes. Women don't tend to understand the hurdles of modding

No kidding! And seldom do they appreciate the results. I think I could've done all of the mods to my t4r without telling the Mrs. and she would've never noticed anything. But if she has one hair out of place.....

I'm looking for some FJ springs/shocks so I've been doing a lot of reading about this lately, and this is the first time I've heard that. Care to elaborate?

The issue is only valid if you're using 2010 FJ parts. There's no issues with 07-09 FJ components. BTY, the 2010 front spring is slightly beefier than those of 07-09. I observed by compared them side by side a local dealer.

I don't think you have any problems if you get some helps from your buddy. All you need is an electric or air grinder to sand down the thickness of the buckeyes (Lower part of the front shock where it connects to the chasis). I've to grind it down from 41mm to 39mm. Also, you need a drill with a cone bit to enlarge the mounting holes on the rear chasis for the rear shocks.
BTW, use a long prybar as a leverage when working with the front. This is a one man job and I was manage to get it done in less than 3 hrs with profesional tools and a lift. Good luck

Will the beefier springs give me more lift?

Well! I got around 2" of free lift up front but only a 0.25" on the rear that made the truck decline an inch toward the rear. I love the ride but I don't like the look. I'm thinking about cutting off the front springs about an inch or so later on.

I think this is typical for all FJ swaps, not just the '10. The 0.25 rear is about right. Most get 1/2"-1" with v8 4x4. Those with a v6 or 2x4 (or both) can expect to get twice those numbers, explaining your 2". *Some* may have been from the beefier springs, but not much if it was. I've heard of several with v6 or 2x4 4runners getting ~2".

2010

Should I get a spacer kit for the rear to make it level? I was planning on running the toyotec 1/2 spacer on the front but now I'm not sure what to do. If I pull a trailer it will look even more nose happy.

What is your 4runner? If it's a v6 or 2wd, get the 1/4" Toytec spacer. If it's a v8 4x4, get the 1/2" spacer. With those two, you shouldn't need any type of rear spacer to level it out, that is unless the 2010 gives you more lift than the previous, I've got no experience there other than what's mentioned above.

I ended up getting a 1/2"+ at all 4 corners with a 4x4 V8.

Then added a 1/2" spacer up front (1" of lift )

I used standard FJ 4x4 springs and shocks that were brand new . The guy was going to toss them out but told me I could have them if I paid for shipping from Cali to Wisc. Total cost : $25.00
