Guess nothing really ever got off the ground with an East TN 4Runner club or meet. Thinking about getting something started.

I've lived in Knoxville for about 6 years now, I had a 2005 v8 limited, and got me a new 2014 pearl white ltd. it's a mall cruiser at the moment. Got a lot of mods in mind, front/rear bumpers from Shrockeorks, Gobi rack, black TRD wheels, undecided on tires and still researching the lift options.. I'd love to get a group together in our area. Wife and I went to windrock last weekend and almost got in over our heads, but some sweet maneuvering and rock bridge building allowed us to escape. We learned a lot from that experience and have a new found appreciation for how capable even the Limited is stock with road tires. Hell yeah.

I just moved to Chattanooga a few months ago. I'm down for getting something started for east TN.

Cool Cars and Coffee

So my wife and I took our new 4runner out to Cars and Coffee today with a few of our friends who have another 4runner and a Tacoma Baja. We saw a few other 4runners(TiN), but also saw a few other older FJ's and Land Cruisers. We were hoping to get up with other like minded Toyota fans and maybe get a club going. It seems like there are plenty of us roaming around east Tennessee, we could have something good.

Checking in from an hour north of Crossville.

Pickett State Forest/Blackhouse Mountain are tons of fun and doable in a stock 4wd Runner.

Off roading

Hey Neil, do you think the limited would still be good. We're not worried about small rubbing, were planning on getting a front and rear steel bumper. By the way TiN is putting together a group page on Instagram. TN trail runners. Hopefully this can be the start of a real toyota club here in Tennessee.

@knox4rner2014 There are defintely trails in the Pickett State Forest/Blackhouse Mountain that a 5th Gen Limited could run.

I happened to be there the same day the Jeeps and Wrenches Club was there, they had some rigs that were no more capable than your Limited.

Here is their thread for the meetup, some pretty nice pictures in it towards the end: Second annual jeeps and wrenches fall colors ride Pickett State Park. - Trail Head / Events - Jeeps And Wrenches

Hey Neil. I think I'm I'll wait till I get a little more aggressive tire. I trying to decide on a new set of rims and tires. My buddy is running the BFG KO's right now and I think I'm leaning that way as well, or at least the newer KO 2's. Wife wants the new TRD BLACK RIMS however they are 17x7 and I want something a little wider, so we'll see who wins. Road tires are good, but I'd like something a little more aggressive before we get out again. Unless the trail is more or less just a dirt road.

@knox4rner2014 That's not a bad idea even for dirt trails just in case there's mud along the way.
I HIGHLY recommend Cooper Discoverer A/T3 tires. I love mine.
They were rated No. 1 AT tire by Consumer Reports and Overland Journal. Super quiet, good road manners, dirt/sand traction is amazing.

I just put on a set of Procomp Extreme MT/2 on Procomp Series 97 steel wheels (16x8 with 4.25" BS) and they are awesome!

Took them out to Adventure Off-road Park in South Pittsberg this past weekend and they performed flawlessly. They stuck to everything on the trails with no issues at all except for some minor rubbing out back under full flex. They ride great on the road (not very loud as you might expect) and supposedly have great rain manors. I'll never go back to BFG ATs again!

Got all 4 wheels and tires mounted and balanced at 4Wheelparts and they shipped them to my door free. I just slapped on a set of 1.5" wheel spacers and the tires and went wheeling.
