Red face Swap out 4YE or convert to V6?

Hi folks,

I have a 2nd Gen 4Runner with a petrol 4YE 4cyl crate motor and a340H auto. Not too bad but a bit sluggish off the line, so i'd like more pick up.

I'm trying to work out which is easiest, to install a manual (G52 or r150f?) or change the 4YE for a V6. It seems like the V6 also uses the a340H, if so can I sell the old auto as one that suits V6?

If I convert to manual I assume the drive shafts will need to be changed also?
Has anyone done this swap?

If I convert to V6 and retain the auto I assume Ill need to change bellhousing but not the rest of the driveline?

I'm thinking convert to manual for now, change to V6 and manual later.
Thoughts are going around and around...
Thanks
Dave
