Anyone replace a stud in a Spidertrax wheel spacer?
So I went to rotate my tires recently for the first time since the tire shop installed them. I had trouble getting one of the lug nuts off. After finally getting it off, it was obvious that the tire shop had cross threaded the lug nut on the stud of my Spidertrax wheel spacer. Both the threads on the stud and the lug nut were severely damaged.
So I purchased new lug nuts and a set of replacement studs from Spidertrax.
How difficult is it to press out the old stud and press in the new one? I don't have a press, so I was thinking about using my small benchtop vise, but not sure that would be strong enough. I emailed Spidertrax and they said its better to use a press so that the stud goes in straight.
Any good thoughts on how to get the old stud out, and press the new one in nice and straight? Or should I take it to a shop to have it pressed in?
I appreciate any advice.
