Next step - cleaning and basic maintenance.

First item - new driveshaft!!! I got a 100% new driveshaft made. Aside from the price - 4 bolts/nuts is worth it for the return of vibration free highway driving...

Next, interior cleaning:
11 years of use at the family cabin (rebuilding it) + 5 years as a kid-mobile = gross!

Many things required complete disassembly to clean:




As far as I know, only 1 soda exploded in the car... but the vacuum also got filled with gold fish crackers...




Anybody wonder what lies behind those rear panels? Well, if you drive off road, probably tons of dust. The culprit? This thing!


I also had to spend a lot of time getting the 'old man grime' that was left on the car. You know, a layer about 2mm thick over the steering wheel, especially in the cracks? Yeah, that. My dad got it dirty, and somehow my sister never cleaned it. Phew. Now my wife likes driving it as much as she does her Mini S 6-speed...
