I upgraded my 2010 tacoma with an Alpine 7" wifi touchscreen with Apple Car Play and my only complaint is the lack of a quick and easy way to turn the sound down. The volume buttons on the radio are push button and very small. I can also use the steering wheel controls to adjust volume. It takes far longer to turn down the sound either way compared to the original volume control nob.
Other than that minor complaint the new radio is 100 times better than my Tacoma's original radio. I'm thinking about installing one in my 2019 4runner.
If you change out your head unit to touch screen you may likely find yourself reaching for the non existent volume control nob for the first couple weeks.
