Idk... I know the 4Runner isn't in the light truck market exactly, but when compared to the Colorado ZR2 with a diesel, talk of the Ranger Raptor, etc, the Toyota's need some more power. They've never had the trend of it, edging more toward reliability, but I still have some hope deep down that they'll bring back a diesel or factory turbo engine (thinking ecoboost). I'm so torn on new vehicles (I'd go Ford, but value drops like rock compared to Toyota), and new Toyota's are still gutless in comparison, which is why I'm still sitting, waiting, and hoping. But the 6th gen 4Runner was due, what, back in 2016/7 or something?
