Definitely not tire noise. I'd bet my Runner on that.
The sound in the video is different than this noise as well. I have both. Anything but the most sensitive mics couldn't pick this up.
Cabinetman, keep us updated on that next service appt. From the first time I heard it, I didn't associate it with the diffs. I don't know why. In my admittedly uneducated head I always felt it was related to the engine just the way it responded to throttle inputs.
I've only had one dealer try to listen for it and they said they couldn't hear it. I'd rather go to the dentist than try to convince a stubborn service adviser.
There is a foreign car shop in my city thats big on toyotas I've been to before that I may ask for help but they are so expensive.
