I mounted an a5100 on my dash for a road trip and got great photos. The biggest issue is readjusting the camera as I was using a 67design mount(mostly jeep specific but pretty much a RAM mount). I also used a gopro which I never had to adjust. I'd use the 5100 for outside the vehicle shots and gopro for in/on vehicle shots.
