I run P rated ones and have had no issues off-road. Have not been to Death Valley though, or any extremely rocky/desert locations. Mostly forest and mud for me and the lowest I air down to for these conditions is 22psi. Also not loaded up with camping gear either, just day trip style offrading. I've not had any tire damage.
