While I agree with you, and also enjoy the smiles per gallon I get with the V8, I don't see the harm in trying to get the most out of it we can. MPG's obviously directly impact the range we can get (some of us have to travel forever to get to the mountains...) 33's are a good benchmark for a capable offroad vehicle. You can generally get away with less, but they look and act the part and actually add ground clearance.

I'm curious who here has regeared when going to 33's. What did you go with and what are your thoughts? Is it necessary or are the 3.73's enough.
