As everyone mentioned, there is a class of tires that fit well for this daily driver, but some off roading needs. I do not think you are going to go wrong with any mentioned here.
I run the Cooper 4s in stock size. They work out great so far, I live in Miami for reference. In the rain they handle great, look good. I had no balancing issues with mine and it is very smooth driving.
As for mpg, I think they are near the weight of the stock tires? Anyway, I took my standard road trip to see my mom, and while I was not tracking the mpg, my fuel gauge and interior "miles left on fuel" was the same as with the stock tires when I stopped at my usual gas station for gas.
