Happy to help. I still have one more 12v outlet to replace, so I'll take the opportunity to record how to remove it from the housing. It's kinda awkward, but not hard once you figure it out. A small, flat blade screwdriver helps a lot.

I cut the Molex connector off the 12v unit and soldered it onto the raw wires of the new USB unit. The USB charger is then plugged into the the factory wiring harness via solid, vibration resistant connection.

Overall it's a pretty easy project and well worth the effort for very little money. Feel free to ask if you need help with wiring.
