It is a good idea, I'd thought about it too. I don't think wrap would hardly effect heat dissipation and it is pretty durable. I think the concern is the threaded sections. That is where all mine started and worked its way down.
I wonder how well it would it hold up and if you did get moisture underneath it could make corrosion worse, more worrisome on the backside where it wouldn't be as noticeable.
