Paint is from Magnet Paints. It's called Chassis Saver and it lives up to its name. I used it on my 3rd gen a while back and it has stood the test of time and Michigan's blue $*IT.

Post Cleaning:
After it's been painted:
Tips:
#1: Do wear long sleeves and safety glasses. I used a variety of cleaning and painting methods and none are to be done in shorts and a tank top.
#2: This paint if it gets smeared into your skin, will only come out when it's good and ready to. See #1
#3: Take your time. There's lots of nooks and crannies that will be difficult. I used a grinder (wire brush attachment), wire brush, and seal scraper for getting rust off. I think it took around 6 hours for prep.
#4: Use a good degreaser. I'm sure there are alternatives but I used the stuff pictured above. It works pretty well as you can tell from the cleaned pictures. It also sets up a good painting surface after it dried up
#5: Have lots of cheap brushes. You wouldn't be able to reuse them anyway so why bother? Get the package of brushes on Amazon for like 7 bucks or something. You can also use foam brushes although they are more likely to leave stuff behind when the paint gets a little thicker
#6: Gloves for painting! See #2. This stuff will be all over your hands from painting around everything that is attached to the frame.
#7: Don't forget the interior of the frame. The only thing that is worse than rust you can see is rust that you cannot see. There will be a follow up post when I get to that stage.
