I wouldn't spend more than 20k on a 5th gen (with a solid service history). 100k is low miles to me. Bought my 3rd gen with 140k on it
13 years ago, never had an issue other than the starter failed once but I started the truck after I banged on it. And all it needed was new contacts, I still have the original starter in there. In fact everything is still original except suspension. I don't think a well maintained 5th gen with highway miles will need anything other than spark plugs, belt, brake pads/rotors until close to 200k miles tbh. And shocks of course but most people are going to upgrade those anyway. Maybe a new radiator and water pump at 120k for good luck.
