Wanted to share a really cool everyday carry I put together for my 5th Gen: A
road coffee kit.
Goal: Be able to pull over and make awesome pour-over coffee -- not B.S. instant coffee, but
real coffee -- on the go, either for the trails or whenever I get sick of sitting in San Francisco Bay Area traffic and need a break.
What's in the Kit:
1) A hand-crank coffee grinder and a jar for beans. I went with
this awesome little grinder:
2) A backpacking stove and fuel to heat up your water on the side of the road:
3) A light-weight pour-over cone, filters, and a pot to heat your water in. For the cone I went with
this guy:
4) Finally, a mug, a can of condensed milk for creamer (if you're into that), a spoon to stir, and some baggies for your used coffee filter once you're done (unless you're planning to toss on the side of the road):
5) A bag to throw everything into. I used
this really cool mil spec mesh bag from Raingler:
And here's the set up in action. Really fun excuse to pull off, take a break, and pop open the hatch for some fresh coffee:
