AAA can do the same, I had the same issue with the wife's 2019 Rav4. Flunkie at the dealership said "I can sell you one off the lot, or otherwise you can check back in a month or so."
3 weeks later AAA had it in our hands, fresh off the boat. I doubt it was built to order, but at least she got what she wanted.
