I don't use Apple products but you could do what i have always done with my Android phones. Will do everything car play will do plus more.
Mount your smart phone in a convenient easy to see place and utilize it connected to the current head unit via BT.





Not only can you use it like car play but your phone will also get charged.

For me i would rather an Apple or Android smartphone/screen than a Toyota. Its a superior platform.
