Sounds like a problem with the flasher relay. A poor connection that heats up until resistance drops enough for voltage to flow thru the pin to the lights. The relay is on the back of the internal fuse box above the e-brake pedal on the driver side. You have to remove the dash trim and dismount the fuse box to access it, it's a big box with a plug on it. If you'd like to check something else, the turn signal harness plugs into the main harness just behind the headlight assembly, and since these vehicles use the turn signals for DRL, they get nice and hot and melt in the socket, especially if the wire is cooked and failing. I'd honestly look there first before diving into the dash. It is possible both turn signal lamps and wires are fried. I replaced my wires and installed anti hyperflash led lamps. But the constant running of the lamp threw off the resistor built in to the lamp and I would inevitably get the hyperflash anyway, so since DRL isn't required in California, I went into the relay and found the pin that puts that voltage out and bypassed it. Problem solved, in my case at least. Can't stand DRL turn signals, and I have my fog lights modded to be on all the time anyway
