I've never experienced a failing fan clutch so I have no idea what it could cause. The OP mentioned he has TorquePro so he should be able to get an accurate coolant temp while he's looking at trans temp.

Turning overdrive off prevents shifting into 4th gear. I can't find anything to support my opinion that the torque converter only locks up in 4th gear on our transmissions. Maybe I can find a way to view it with my UltraGauge.
