lot of stop and go driving; exactly what handling issue do you have with the 4runner in such a commute?
Even if just at the speed limit, I fail to see how the 4runner does not handle well on any US road driving the speed limit.
Changing the tires as you suggested will not do anything.
You might try getting another type of car. That is not an insult at all, so please do not take it as such. I love my 4runner, but there are other cars I would love to have also, but totally a PITA if to be a daily driver.
My mom wanted a 4runner also, but I convinced her that the Highlander would be a much better fit, and she would be happier with it, and she loves her Highlander.
