Weight of the rig alone would crush the CF skid if it were to hit hard on a rock. That would also require you to get a new skid every time it gets crushed. If the first purchase isn't already expensive, the second or third would kill the pocketbook.

Aluminum would be the next best bet for weight savings. Titanium would also be very expensive but tough!
