Something that is bugging the hell out of me is the steering wheel has been pealing at the top. This started within the first 8 months of owning the vehicle. I took it into Toyota Escondido to get it replaced under warranty and apparently Toyota deemed this as, "outside influence." They said if I wanted to fix it I would have to purchase a steering wheel for $781.33+tax and an hour of labor to install it. I even reached out to Toyota corporate.
I can't figure out what they consider, "outside influence." Does that mean me putting my hands on the wheel is outside influence??? Needless to say, I'm pretty pissed and wanted to see if anyone else has had similar issues. Am I crazy or is this a common issue with the rig?

Well, I had a similar experience but apparently my warranty was expired so I decided to look for steering wheel restoration services also with an idea to put some wood on it. I found these guys, called
woodensteeringwheels that helped me a lot. They basically can refurbish any wheel by putting some style to it and some custom feeling. If someone is interested in what they have made out of my old steering wheel, just DM me and I'll send you some pictures. I just thought this could be useful, hope it'll help in the future!
Cheers.
