USPS is the worst. They marked an order as "delivered" only I couldn't find it. It wasn't on the doorstep, in the bushes, or in the community mailbox. I had to go across the street (Yes, the post office was across the street from my house) and ring the service window bell for about 10 minutes since it was a Saturday. Me and another customer could easily hear the employees talking a few feet on the other side of the door. They just ignored the service bell until they realized we weren't going to leave. Sure enough, my package was back there. The employee said our gate must have been locked. That was bullcrap. I unlocked the gate because I was expecting the package.
Another gem of a USPS expereince: ordered jewelry for my wife and again the day it was out for delivery, the package was marked as "tried but nobody was home". My wife and I were home and I even saw the mailperson on our street. No paper notification was left on our door in the mailbox. The next day, my wife found the package in the mailbox and it had the word "re-del" written on it. The mailperson made herself a note to "redeliver" the package she forgot to deliver. The best part is, the package didn't require a signature so I'm not sure how she got away with tagging as "nobody home" when it was a simple mailbox dropoff.
Good luck OP. Best you can do is file a complaint with the Inspector General.
