Oil Control Valves, OEM or other?

I have a recurring P0012 fault code. It comes back every few hundred miles and I suspect it's the oil control valve. I've read numerous posts about this and it seems like taking the old one out and cleaning doesn't usually do the trick, even if the solenoid ohms out in spec.

I was wondering if anyone had experience with a non OEM brand of these things. I see them in RockAuto from $23-80. Toyota seems to be $103 to about $150 depending on where you go.

I'm at 110,000 miles, but I don't think the PO did a lot of maintenance.
