Good idea. I do usually spray the bolts and inside that gap with silicone based spay this way it don't rust out.
This spring I may get the whole under carriage rust proofed with either powder coating or use the Rust-Oleum Rust Reformer which instantly converts rust to a protected paintable surface first then use the Rust-Oleum Undercoating Pro Grade Rubberized Black spray.
I should of done this as soon as I bought the runner, but rust isn't too bad so far.
