Alternator brushes added to the list along with a thorough test of the unit.
Turns out my wiring harness and connections from the battery back has a ton of corrosion in it with the insulation swelled to 2x the normal size, so I'm replacing that, which is not particularly cheap to do as it turns out.
This seems my likely culprit but then maybe not, at any rate it would have been a problem down the road if I didn't get to it now.
