Broke out of quarantine to take the family on a quick drive down Old Latrobe Road. Got a little flexy on one part of the road.
Also changed the oil and installed some 6 1/2 speakers in the rear doors today. Best Buy had Kenwood KFC651s on sale for 37 bucks and with a mounting depth of 1.9 I figured they'd fit great.
I ordered some 5 1/4 speaker adapters off of Amazon and used the cutout on the back of th speaker box to trace where I need to enlarge the hole of the adapter.
I used a dremel with a cutoff wheel and cut along the circle.
I used two of the screws that hold the adapter down to also hold the speaker. The other two screws (adapter to door) I countersunk so the speaker would lay flat. Then I drilled two new holes for the speaker to adapter screws and put it all together.
I used a Metra speaker wire adapter so I didnt have to do any soldering. I did have to dremel a channel on the adapter plate for the wires so they wouldnt be pinched. All said and done it took maybe an hour and a half for both sides and everything clears with plenty of room! Suuuuuper easy to do as well!
