Ceramic brakes and the effect on crawl/traction control
I need to get some new brakes. I am an OEM-ist, provided cost isn’t insane. Akebono comes with a whole lot of high praise and so do the OEM’s. Cost is the same (Since local dealer didn’t want to price match online and shipping made it null) and brake dust & noise have not been an issue.
Also there are 2 different part #s for the oem, one one the car at purchase and the one installed if they do maintenance? Why? Are they accounting for test drives?!!
My inference is that oem is semi-metallic & Akebono ACT is ceramic (correct me if I’m wrong about oem). Through my research the pros and cons of each are there & it’s a toss up with trade offs either way.
So I was going to go with Akebonos, but I had a thought and can’t find any info on how the change in material affects the traction/crawl control. Does it screw with the programs that control those systems? Do they adapt?
Google ain’t been my friend. Anybody have some thoughts or directions toward informative material?
