The only way to know for sure would be to test braking distance before and after install, which I have not done. So I can't give you any factual, tested information.

I don't have any plans to provide a rock shield. I've heard of rocks getting stuck between backing plates and rotors, but never between pads and rotors. Have you had this happen? The pads are just about touching the rotors. That doesn't leave much room for rocks to get between them.
