How is this wired though? The Subie install video looks pretty simple because the reverse lights are in the hatch. Significantly more wiring would be required for the 4Runner where the reverse lights are on the pillars but the license plate is on the liftgate. At 180mA I'm assuming it's such a small load that it's safe to add to most reverse circuits?

The discount will be determined by how much interest this gets really. If enough people get in on the idea, I imagine it'll be in that 15-20% off Bracket.
This system just wires straight into your Reverse light circuit! No need for Resistors or anything along those lines, these LEDs are super concervative and will not cause any issues/warning messages on your dash! It's just a quick little addition that makes all the difference.
It might be tougher on the 4Runners due to their setup/design, but it is do-able! I'd recommend recruiting the use of a Fish wire to help route the wiring up into position where you can Solder/T-Tap them in-line.
