I need to repair a single wire at the end going into the 4WD position switch of the actuator as it has an area of exposed insulation and the wire is bad.

What gauge wire do I need? And is there a special type that I need to use?

Thanks all!
Admittedly I've never dealt with the transfer case wiring, but may be ably to point you in the right direction to manually figure it out. Times are odd right now, but if you can get one of your hands on one of these wire gauges, then you might be able to figure out the size.

Another option would be to look on the wire to try and see if it has any markings on it. For example, this wire below is marked with 18 awg. I have no idea if this is required, but I took apart a dinosaur of a computer power supply to rob wire and they were all labeled like this.
