end_offroad was because it sounds like they really have their heart set on mud terrains, so just provided gentle encouragement to go that route if they can afford the replacement schedule.

I have been wondering about the STT Pro for snow driving though. I'm actually also looking for a hybrid right now but take my 4Runner into ski country at least 2 or 3 times a year (and sometimes drive in pretty gnarly conditions). Thus that's my one reservation to running them.
For reference, I have the Terra Grapplers on my Pro right now, have run Falken AT3W on my previous 4Runner, and ran Exo Grapplers, Trail Grapplers, and KMs on my Wrangler Unlimited previously.
