You don't "need" UCAs. However UCA's help mitigate issues that come from lifting. Mainly caster and downtravel. Just like how you don't "need" to upgrade your suspension when you throw your rear bumper on but it'll help with sag and overall suspension performance with the added weight. If you want UCA's and 285s... just throw on some spacers. It's a much smaller investment if you're waiting to buy wheels, it'll get you going for the time being, and I bet you can offload those spacers pretty quickly.
