The previous owner has no idea if he did a timing belt. Is there a way to check if the belt is good for another so miles? I'm still in the process of buying the parts for it. I have the Belt and the Pump so far. I heard from one of my pals that I could remove the top portion of the belt cover to inspect if it's still in good condition. You would think at 204K miles that maybe he did do a belt job when it was at 100k or so right? Well just to be sure I want to inspect the belt. So is there a way? Has anyone had this situation before? Thanks in advance.

you can slide the compression clip off of the top radiator hose take the spark plug wire clips of the timing cover loosen the 12mm bolts slide the timing cover forward and check the belt you can also rotate the crank pulley bolt clockwise and check the belt.
