Rear suspension issues after changing shocks

Really hoping someone can give some insight into this as auto shops are not being very helpful. A while back I broke a shock. I drove on it minimally just a few times not knowing it had happened then took it in to the shop. They replaced the shocks but when I got it back the rear suspension was acting up.

Basically what it does is clunk down hard any time I’m coming off a bump. Basically how I would describe it is if you took a standard passenger car and drive right off a curb. The rear would not come down gently it would just swiftly clunk down off the curb. That is what my 4runner is doing now. Any type of off-roading where the back comes off of a bump the whole rear ended just slams down instead of bouncing down gently like it used to.

I told the shop about it and they claimed to tune up the shocks whatever that means. The problem did improve a little but it’s still there. I took it to another shop and he said something about the sway bar or control arm being unbolted and that that might fix it. I said great but then it turned out he was looking in the front when the problem is in the rear.

It’s 2006 4runner . Would appreciate any advice or insight. Supposedly it has a slight maybe 1” lift but I’ve never confirmed that.
