that sucks. getting goo quality parts can be a challenge for anything.
Couple years ago I needed plugs. Parts monkey dropped them on the floor and then couldn't understand why I would not buy those. Dropping plugs can do all kinds of damage. Cracked porcelain, and more. drop it, throw it away.
I had have seen them shake brake fluid before handing me the bottle. REALLY!!!!!!
I needed a throttle position sensor a few years ago. Parts counter person person told me they fail a lot? She said " we replace one in our cars every 6 months or so"????????? WTF? Then she tried her best to sell me the $19.95 one instead of the $65 one. She couldn't understand why I would pay more. Sometimes you actually get what you pay for, sometimes not.
Poor quality parts are so common. As much as I don't like to pay dealer prices, sometimes its worth it.
thermostats were a real problem for a long time. Haven't needed one in a long time, after I bought an OEM one.
