It's possible it could have been a slow leak but really, my hydraulic lines were so corroded that I suspect it could have opened up somewhere and lost all the oil at once. We've had a lot of heavy rain this year so I'm guessing road spray washed away the evidence before I could see it.
I drained about a pint & a half of oil out and that includes what was still in the shocks.
