What 5th generation owners say: I want a bigger NA engine with more hp and low end torque.

What Toyota hears: small displacement turbo that makes most of its power above 6000rpm and has start/stop feature.

What 5th generation owners say: I want a highway gear on the bomb-proof transmission.

What Toyota hears: 10 speed gear hunting transmission that shatters when off-roading.

What 5th generation owners say: I want a mod-friendly frame that lets me install bigger tires and long travel suspension.

What Toyota hears: can we design the body, frame, and suspension in any way that makes mods even harder to do than it already is? We want it to be impossible to mount any tire without rubbing and any suspension lift over 1" that won't **** up the UCAs.

What 5th generation owners say: some safety aides like auto stop, lane departure, and adaptive cruise are nice to have.

What Toyota hears: make it so you can't turn these systems off. Ever. So a rock on a trail will activate the panic stop and leave you stranded since the collision avoidance won't let you hump a boulder.

What 5th generation owners say: more factory lockers.

What Toyota hears: drivetrain more open than Will Smith's marriage.
