Was about to make a thread on this, but I figured I could ask here seeing as this is an active thread on the same general topic.
The rear seals, bearings and retainers were all replaced on mine 3 years ago. Flipped retainers and was grease tested. Grease test showed right in the middle. No leaks.
Now, in a month or so, I am getting ready to install a 4.10 locker with the accompanying locker housing. I have new axle seals and the axle o-rings ready to go on the new housing.
My question is, would I need to play with the retainers at all? I am merely just taking the axles from the old unit and transferring it onto the new housing, so I believe the retainers should still be in the correct position to make a seal on the new housing.
Regardless, I was still planning to perform a grease test to verify, but I just wanted some input before I begin. Thanks.
