There's plenty of info and posts on here about replacing the alternator brushes, which is likely your problem. They're $20 or so, and if you already have the alternator out, it takes an additional 10 minutes to swap out the brush assembly. Tapping the alternator a few times lightly with a hammer may get your current brushes to seat down enough to charge the battery for a few days, while you wait for replacement brushes to arrive.
