My 19" braking bar was not sufficient so I got a 25" long one. The Allen hex size is between 16mm and 17mm so I used a 16mm with some aluminum to make it fit properly.

Extra leverage is pretty common. I actually welded a 12" or so piece of steel tube to my spanner wrench for my Fox shocks. One thing that can help is a little bit of oil between the adjustment ring and the spring to help it slide. I also like to lube up the threads as much as I can with penetrating oils before I move them just to free everything up. Once they've been through a few years of wear, it'll only get harder to turn. The Ironman spanner looks pretty nice. The one Fox sends is a flimsy piece of shit.
