The actual key fob piece unlocks and starts the car. The small metal key stored inside the fob is for unlocking the doors manually if your fob/car runs out of battery. I guess you can hide the small emergency key if you like but personally i'd be annoyed by the absence of it on the fob itself and it wouldn't serve any purpose besides unlocking the doors as it can't start the car..
