KDSS is only useful when doing serious off roading. In city or highway driving it never comes into play. When off roading, it is really nice in keeping the wheels in contact with the ground, and making the ride much more comfortable -- not as much jarring when going over boulders/rocks.

Thus, if you want to be punished for going off road, drive a Jeep. If not, drive a 4Runner with KDSS (or a Land Rover Defender).
