I noticed a very small initial starting off the line difference at first, which, you quickly forget about in a couple days. I find the overall performance is very good and did not lose any mileage between the two. The ride quality is nicer/smoother with the SL 285’s as compared to the E load KO2’s. I would not go back from a 285. I personally slightly prefer the KO2 tread pattern myself also. The Wildpeaks balanced well, track smooth, no steering wheel shutter and held up well deflated to 22psi over rocks, sand, salt and silt on a 128 mile trip through the desert three weeks ago.
