Diff Drop Bad?

I had to remove my drop kit yesterday to finish with a LCA bushing install and I noticed that the pucks used are plastic and have an indent where it mates to the frame. It kind of looks like it wasn't supposed to have it and I could never get to the required 101 ft. lbs. of torque, further adding to my concern that these things are not strong enough for the job.

The previous owner doesn't remember where he got them from (like half of the stuff he installed, as I'm finding), so should I upgrade to a metal kit instead? I've replaced nearly the entire front suspension now and I still have a mystery "clap" when articulating. I'm starting to believe that it may be these pucks... or the axles.

3rd gen
6112's maxed out
Sonoran Steel 1/4" strut spacers
JBA UCA's
Whiteline LCA bushings
OEM LBJ w/ ~35,000 miles
