Rubbing on body, help
Hey y'all, I just got a 2006 V6. I recently installed a 3 inch lift kit (spacers in the front and back, and shocks in the back) and put some 285/70r17 wheels on that my friend gifted me since he changed all his wheels for new ones. I trimmed the front bumper as it rubbed a lot and everything seemed fine. But then I started to rub on the front wheels on the body frame while parking or extreme steering.
Last weekend, I wen out to the desert and the rubbing was just too bad, little slopes felt pretty bad and when trying to go down an incline or something the rubbing is just annoying.
My question for you guys is: What should I do?
To my understanding, there are two roads I can take, either buying new wheels (rims and tires) that are smaller and fit better, or try to go for a more professional suspension lift.
I know there are ways to chop off the metal frame as the body does not sit on that little piece, however, I do not know if this will be enough.
I do understand the pros and cons on a bigger lift kit, however, the reason why I am considering both options is because I believe the money I would need for one option should be the same for the other one??? Also, these wheels that I got gifted have lot of life left on them and the rims I really like. I personally would like more ground clearance as well.
Regardless, I would really appreciate some input, specially if you recommend going for the lift, how tall to go and what I would need to get in terms of the lift kit as I know once you go passed a certain height then other stuff needs to be replace.
Thank you!
