This is my first vehicle with tire pressure sensors, so not to familiar with them. What happens when the internal battery goes out? Does the dash light come on? Does that also mean that they are now worthless and need replacing?
My 2012 is approaching about 9 years of age. Also, I want to get new tires this summer for an extended road trip in the fall. Would it be foolish to expect 9 year old TPS to work long enough to be practical with the new tires or should I just get 4 new ones along with the new tires? I'm kind of old school and bought my first Toyota 4x4 back in 1974. I've never had an issue not having TPS since then and if I need new ones and it's a couple of hundred bucks for 4 installed I'm thinking of possibly skipping it. Would appreciate your thoughts.
