Another idea is a lightweight steel (thin steel should work well) skid plate modeled after the OEM plastic/fiber board piece that covers the fuel filter area on the driver's side.
Every OEM piece I've seen is cracked, or missing altogether.
This metal skid would serve to keep mud and debris off of the trans linkages and fuel filter areas, and would really clean up the underside.
